beyond the tall grass; part iii

Part three and the last part (for now?) of the series. This one is actually HDR work composed of three different exposures. Tried to keep it as realistic as possible.

beyond the tall grass; part ii

Same place as the previous post; different spot. Please ignore the not-so-spectacular clouds on that day. Hehe.

distant jewel

The Jame' Asri Hassanil Bolkiah stands out starkly against the fading daylight. This photo was taken at the same spot as the previous two posts and is also the last of that particular series.

a simple sunset

Just a plain ol' sunset I took almost two weeks ago. Yeah two weeks, it surprised me even. I've been pretty occupied with other stuff lately and hence the lead time between taking the pic and uploading it here.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you with the details. I'm just saying this is why I haven't updated for the last couple of days and until I get them over and done with, updates will not be as frequent as they have been for the past couple of weeks.

golden empire

The Empire Hotel, visible in the distance as seen from Tungku beach, is awash in the golden rays of the late afternoon sun.

chasing sunsets

Chasing sunsets (and sunrises for that matter) requires patience, especially in a country such as Brunei where clouds can come out of nowhere ready to pour rain and spoiling your envisioned picture.

I went out to Serasa beach again today but the trip was wasted because as soon as I arrived thick clouds were practically everywhere and not long after it started drizzling. So I gave up for the day, and on the way home stopped by a restaurant to grab a bite.

Turns out when I came out from the restaurant the western sky was awash with colors; blues, reds, purples, oranges.. just the makings of a perfect sunset. Pity I was no longer in a good position to take a good picture. I guess I gave up too soon.

About the photo:
A cluster of trees visible from my house during sunset. Never underestimate that sight you've seen a thousand times already. What might be a normally bland sight most hours of the day might just turn out to be something special for a few precious minutes or even seconds when the time and conditions are right. Just goes to show you don't have to go far to get a good shot.
