national day - fireworks

Fireworks at the Empire Hotel held on the same day as the main event. There were actually two fireworks show on the same night that night. One was held at the Taman Jubilee in the capital and the other one was at the Empire, spaced only a couple hours apart with the one in the capital being held first.

I went to both events but since it was my first attempt at shooting fireworks, I totally botched the one in the capital. Fortunately, I did much better the second time around, but of course there is still plenty of room for improvement.

I almost decided to call it quits while waiting for the second fireworks show of the night to get started because it was raining. Thankfully the rain wasn't that heavy and my gear apparently managed to survive through the ordeal unscathed.

sengkurong walkabout

So I went on a walk around the Sengkurong commercial area this morning. Yeah, it's the same morning I took the picture of the cat from the previous post. Just thought I'd include the rest of them. There are six of them for this series.

Mind the loading time. Or if it doesn't load at all, do tell but I probably won't be able to do anything much to fix it. As a matter of fact, if it works fine, tell me too so I know I can use it again in the future.

I came across this cat while I was walking about the Sengkurong commercial area. It seemed to like that spot for some reason because it was still there when I returned to its general area.

a pure white fragrance

Anybody who knows this flower should know that it gives off a really nice scent.

Anyway, the composition of this photo doesn't really satisfy me. Any inputs on how better to frame the flowers? It's planted to the ground, by the way.

Am I back to my usual update schedule? Maybe. At any rate I think I like shooting at abandoned stuff. This here is a clothes dryer which has fallen into disrepair.

ninjas in full color

Yes, I know I haven't updated in a while but I have a valid excuse, really. I was out saving the world, albeit a digital one. I've been at it a few days now and it kinda takes up most of the free time I'd have usually spent taking photos.

Since I don't really have any good new photos to show, I dug through my photo archives and came out with this one. It's from my trip to Indonesia. This was taken at a resort I visited in Bandung and quite a few stalls operating within the resort had these wire-frame ninja action figures for sale. They even made some to look like characters from Naruto.

They go for about B$2 each if you're ever interested in buying some. You could probably bargain with the seller for a tad bit lower than that.
