After a bit of a long trek yesterday through perilous jungle by myself (and hundreds of mosquito bites later), I finally managed to reach this hidden gem called Wasai Kandal in Kampong Kilanas. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's Kandal or Kendal as both appear to be used frequently from what little info there is of this place on the 'net.
At any rate, the place feels quite abandoned now. The tracks were overgrown and at times fallen logs also blocked the path, forcing you to go over or even under them. There were disappearing traces of bridges once used to cross streams as well as a collapsed picnic bench/table. As it was I had to rough everything out while carrying thousand dollar equipment.
In other news, I think I did say I was going to post photos of my Indonesia trip. Let me just revise what I said. It'll come when I feel like posting them. :)

Heh kalau kan ramai2 hiking aku mau lagi ke sana. Some things to be kept in mind tho:
- mosquito repellents are a must
- go there only if it hasn't rained for a day or two and the sun is bright
- bawa tali utk turun naik bukit (not a must but doesn't hurt to be safe and it makes the climbing easier)
- wear non-slippery waterproof sandals with back support supaya nda lapas. Kasut boleh plg.. if you don't mind walking in soggy shoes lah. ^^ Aku pakai selipar kesana...
- expect to get dirty, but even then, to protect against nyamuk, avoid wearing shorts/short-sleeved shirts kalau nada utk halau nyamuk.
Hm.. now that I think about it, kinda dangerous plg aku ke sana sorang2 tu ah. ^^" But the journey itself is quite fun lah (excluding nyamuk) especially since nada kemudahan2 like bridges tu.. rasa mcm exploring new jungle (tapi ada old worn-out tracks plg masih ^^).
